Description of Program :
BlairLEARNS is a 7th -12th grade “out of school” program, that is
comprised of an ASES funded Middle School program and an ASSETs
funded High School program. BlairLEARNs in collaboration with the
Blair IB Magnet School’s “regular school day”, provide a
“seamless school day”, serving the school’s students from 6:30am
– 6:60pm. Classes are also held in the evenings as well as
weekends.
The BlairLEARNs Program features Credit Recovery, Academic
Assistance, Cross-Age Tutorial, Targetted Intervention, Academic
Enrichment, and Family Literacy programming.

What Outreach efforts/activities are being conducted with 8th
and/or 9th grade students?:
Outreach is performed in several ways, and is a never-ending.
Printed materials are distributed both directly to students
through regular school day classroom visits, followed by the
printeed materials being mailed home to parents. Collaboration
with the regular school day using data to identify students for
targetted “out of school time” programming, specifically designed
to recruit students that are not engaged. Other forms of
recruitment include, but are not limited to posters, PA
announcements, electronic communications, T-shirts, and most
importantly having a staff that is comprised of great
relationship builders with our youth.
