CA Dept. of Education logoThe Expanded Learning Division (EXLD) of the California Department of Education (CDE) is pleased to announce that each ASSETs grantee will receive a one-time additional grant for $60k for each funded base program for the fiscal year 2023-24. The funds will have an effective date of July 1, 2023 – December 31, 2024. The CDE anticipates the Grant Award Notifications will be sent out in February 2024. These additional funds should be utilized following the same rules as regular ASSETs funding.

These additional grants are currently being built in the CDE database and will be visible to the recipients in ASSIST by the end of December 2023. These grants will have a separate grant identification number from regular ASSETs grants and will be easily identifiable in ASSIST; the grant ID will end in the suffix 1X.

The additional one-time funding results from ESSER III after-school set-aside funding that was not fully expended in 2022-23. The U.S. Department of Education required each state to reserve one percent of the ESSER III funding for after school and an additional one percent for summer programs.

More information will be released when the Grant Award Notifications are sent to the field. Please contact your Regional Fiscal Analyst at EXLD Regional Contacts with questions regarding this update.

Thank you for all you do to support older youth.

Happy Holidays!
