The National Institute on Out-of-School Time is offering the following 2 day or 4 day training sessions for afterschool program professionals from July 14 to July 17, 2008:
Seminar A: Advancing School, Afterschool and Community Partnerships: Are strategic partnerships necessary for your organization? Whether your need arises from programming, sustainability or new trends such as expanded learning time, this seminar will help you reach out and build valuable relationships. Learn from and interact with specialists from schools, afterschool programs and community-based organizations seeking to promote a new way of forging partnerships. Learn how to create a shared vision with strategies and policies that will benefit youth.
Seminar B: Quality Advisor Training: The NIOST Quality Advisor Training will prepare you to provide technical assistance to afterschool programs working on quality improvement. You will learn the skills of observation, analysis, and problem-solving to assess and counsel programs using a variety of tools including ASQ (Assessing School Age Quality) and APT (Assessment of Afterschool Program Practices Tool).
Seminar C: Seminar for System Builders: The Seminar for System Builders is designed specially for those who act as Quality Advisors, provide technical assistance or are part of a regional organization supporting afterschool. It will help those who focus on afterschool program infrastructure and quality improvement. This seminar is designed for those who want the opportunity to meet and learn from others while learning methods for taking programs to the next level.
Seminar D: Afterschool Program Assessment System (APAS): This workshop will prepare you to use APAS - a new, comprehensive evaluation system designed to help afterschool programs improve their program quality and reach their desired outcomes for children and youth. APAS is the only assessment system available that helps aferschool programs link quality and youth outcomes together in a comprehensive, flexible and integrated fashion. Prerequisites: Prior experience in evaluation, including: data collection, program and/or youth outcome assessment. To make sure this course is right for you please contact us at niost@wellesley.edu.
Tuition: $575 for a single seminar, $1050 for two seminars--Includes participant notebook and all other materials, continental breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
