Valley High School’s ASSETs program consists of three major program strands: Academic Support and Instruction, Enrichment and Alternative Activities, and Family Literacy. We employ a full time ASSETs coordinator and credentialed teachers who provide before and after school instruction in core subjects, in addition to tutoring and homework assistance, and extended career center/computer hours. Enrichment and alternative activities include sports, dance, music, clubs, hobbies, and a variety of student-initiated activities. The Family Literacy component is coordinated with EGACE, Parent Institute for Quality Education (PIQE), Healthy Start, Parent Project Sr., Sacramento County Probation Department, CSU-Sacramento and Valley Hi Youth & Adult Coalition. EGUSD’s Food and Nutrition services provides a daily snack and beverage for each student, along with grant-funded transportation to students’ home neighborhood via Sac RT.
