This training workshop largely focuses on older low-income youth of color, who have largely been ignored by mainstream after-school health/well-being literature and curriculum developments. With respect to race, culture, and class this training workshop focuses on marginalized youth who have unique after-school needs. Participants in this training workshop examine more deeply the social, health and well-being issues low-income youth of color confront and explore how to creatively respond and appeal to their after-school health and well-being needs. This training workshop focuses on the value of community-based partnerships with youth serving organizations in an after-school setting. Involving and communicating with youth-serving organizations and community stakeholders to improve school and community conditions for older youth is key. This training workshop examines the community-based after-school programming relationships that can be built to support the pro-social health and well-being development of older youth.
