System of Support for Expanded Learning

In California, state funding provides technical assistance grants in each of the state’s 11 regions of the California County Superintendent’s Services Association (CCESA) to support after-school programs collaboration.

Funded by the California Department of Education (CDE), these grants fund Regional Lead Offices that receive their direction from the CDE After School Division and work through and with local County Offices of Education. The Regional Leads work cooperatively with CDE staff (Education Programs Consultants and Analysts) to broker CDE, national and regional expertise and resources to effectively meet the needs of programs. The Regional Lead offices strive to provide research-based and standards aligned training and technical assistance to school districts, before and after-school programs, school sites, and community partners who receive or are interested in receiving and sustaining before and after-school funding for programs.
