ASES Bill Championed in California

Post

California State Senator Connie Leyva recently introduced SB 78, which seeks to increase funding for the After School Education and Safety (ASES) program—the main after school funding mechanism in California. Read more about SB 78 here.  The bill will be heard in the State Senate in the coming month and the Save After School Campaign wants you to get in involved! Here is what you can do while the bill moves through the Senate.

  • Bring awareness by posting on Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #SaveAfterSchool.
  • Sign their petition.
  • Contact your representative. Let them know why expanded learning programs are critical for youth and why a rate increase is needed now. Ask them to join Senator Leyva in this fight. You can find helpful materials and talking points on our website.
  • Let the campaign know what additional information you need and how we can support your local advocacy.
