With Federal Funding Secured, Advocates Turn Attention to CA State Policy
The California Afterschool Network is part of the California Afterschool Advocacy Alliance and is supporting the Save After School campaign. Thanks to your efforts, last year, the campaign was successful in securing a $50 million increase for the After School Education and Safety (ASES) program. This increase was a welcome relief for after school programs that have been in dire need based on minimum wage and other increases in the cost of doing business in the face of flat funding. A recent survey conducted in December 2017 found that while most programs found the recent increase is making a positive difference, 98% will be negatively impacted by the time the state minimum wage hits $15 if they do not receive another increase for ASES.
