Flat funding negatively impacting ASES Programs, Survey Finds

Post

The Partnership for Children & Youth (PCY) has just released the results of a statewide survey of almost 700 expanded learning providers, asking them about how they have been impacted by over 8 years of flat ASES funding. The numbers paint a stark picture, with nearly 30% saying they are very likely to close within the next two years without a funding increase. California boasts the largest after school infrastructure in America. State ASES funding supports nearly 4,000 programs serving approximately 400,000 students in communities and districts who are most in need of such programs. The survey, summarized in a recent EdSource article found that 92% of respondents have been negatively impacted by the flat funding rate, 64% have reduced staff hours, and 35% are serving fewer students than last year.
