Legislature approves $50 million ASES increase, budget awaits Brown’s signature

On Thursday June 15th, California Legislators approved on a final budget bill that included a $50 million increase to the state’s After School Education and Safety (ASES) program. A recent EdSource article summarized education spending in the budget bill negotiated by legislative leaders and the Brown administration. Governor Brown is expected to sign the budget bill before June 30th, but an increase to ASES is not a reality until the bill (including the ASES increase) is signed.
