Zoila Couture is a Program Coordinator for the California Afterschool Network (CAN). Zoila is excited to bring her experience in policy, community engagement, and expanded learning to CAN. Zoila has a extensive professional background in the political arena which includes working directly on political campaigns, political fundraising, as well as a Community Liaison for Councilmember Darrell R. Fong yet always had a desire to work in education. Merging her experience in organizing and policy, she comes to CAN with diverse professional experiences. 

Zoila studied Political Science at Sacramento City College and transferred to earn her degree in Political Science at UC Davis. Throughout her academic career, Zoila was a student senator for the Student Senate for California Community Colleges, Organizer for the Environmental Council of Sacramento, and a Mentor for Bannon Creek Elementary School. 

Zoila was born and raised in the city of Sacramento. In her down time, Zoila enjoys volunteering for the Sacramento Food Bank, traveling abroad, road trips, dance, yoga, and spending time with her dog Luc.
