California After School Program Quality Self-Assessment Tool
The California Afterschool Program Quality Self Assessment Tool
The California After School Programs Quality Self Assessment Tool is a collaborative effort of the California Department of Education and the California Afterschool Network. The tool is intended to assist California's after school programs in assessing their programs for continuous program improvement. The use of this tool is highly recommended by the CDE, however its use is not mandatory. The assessment tool is not an evaluation and assessment results cannot be submitted to meet grant reporting requirements. Results can be used to assess technical assistance needs and plan for program improvements.

Scoring Tools
There are currently two Excel-based scoring tools available for storing and summarizing data obtained from the Quality Self-Assessment Tool (QSA Tool):
- The Single-Site Scoring Sheet – This tool allows a program site to enter assessment responses for up to 20 staff members and automatically calculates a summary of the QSA Tool responses for each of the program quality indicators. To read more instructions, click here.
- The Multi-Site Scoring Sheet – This tool allows a program operating in multiple sites to create a summary of QSA Tool responses across all sites (up to 20 sites) – without reentering any of the site-level data.
