Policy - Virtual Workshop

California’s budget negotiations have seen proposals to eliminate child care programs and place proposition 49 (ASES funding) back on the ballot. The Federal Government is currently creating its 2011/2012 budget and is starting to move forward on amending and reauthorizing the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA: formerly No Child Left Behind).

Network Policy Committee co-chair Brian Lee, Deputy Director with California Fight Crime Invest in Kids, will offer a summary of state and federal after school policy. Participants will learn about current policy issues, and how to access a toolkit created by the California Afterschool Network to educate legislators about the value of after school programs through site visits.
