Jenesis Group Grants
The Jenesis Group is offering grants to support youth development, education and social entrepreneurship. Nonprofit organizations with 501(c) 3 status are encouraged to apply. The Foundation invests in grass roots organizations working to empower at-risk and/or disadvantaged youth to become productive citizens. Priority is given to programs with preventative approaches and comprehensive long-term solutions to challenges facing youth today.
Do Something's Plum Youth Grants
U.S. and Canadian citizens 25 or under
are eligible to apply for $500 Plum Youth Grants. These grants are designed
to further the growth and success of recently created community action project
or organization. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and grants

Lowes Charitable and Educational Foundation Funding
Nonprofit organizations with 501 (c) (3) status and public agencies operating in communities where Lowe’s stores and distribution centers are located are eligible to apply. Grant funds are available for community improvement projects. Grant amounts range from $5,000 to $25,000. Application awards are ongoing. To apply organizations will need to take an eligibility test. Comcast Foundation Grants
Comcast Foundation Grants are available to fund literacy, volunteerism and youth leadership development programs. Nonprofit organizations with 501 (c) (3) status operating within Comcast communities are eligible to apply. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Gannet Foundation Grants
Local non-profit organizations providing special initiatives not provided in regular school budgets in the California communities of Palm Springs, Visalia, Salinas, and Sacramento are eligible for Gannet Foundation funding in the areas of social/human services and health benefiting disadvantaged members of their community. Deadlines to submit applications are August 15, 2008 and February 15, 2009. For more information, and to apply click here.
CA Dept of Education Funding: School Nutrition
Eligible Applicants: local educational agencies Required Eligibility Criteria: Public and private nonprofit schools (including public charter schools) are eligible to participate. Also eligible are public and private nonprofit licensed residential child care institutions (e.g., group homes, juvenile halls, orphanages). Funding Description: Funding supports five school meal and milk programs to assist schools, districts, and other non-profit agencies in providing nutritious meals and milk to children at reasonable prices or free to qualified applicants.
CA Dept of Education Funding: Child and Adult Care Food
Eligible Applicants: institutions of higher education, local educational agencies, nonprofit organizations, other organizations or agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria: Public, private nonprofit, and private for-profit agencies; agencies licensed or approved to provide non-residential day care to children or chronically impaired adults. Public or private nonprofit emergency shelters may also be eligible for subsidy.
The Guitar Center Music Foundation Grants
Non-Profit organizations with an established, ongoing, and sustainable music program providing music instruction to individuals of any age who would not normally have the opportunity to make music are eligible to apply for $500.00 - $5,000.00 in Guitar Center Music Foundation Grants. Verizon Foundation Education Grants
Non-profit organizations, schools (elementary or secondary) and government-funded programs are eligible to apply for funding from the Verizon Foundation to advance literacy and educational achievement, promote health and safety, and prevent domestic violence. The foundation reviews proposals annually from January 1st to November 1st. For more information and to apply, click here.
