Multiple Positions Available – Transforming Education
Transforming Education is looking for a chief program officer and whole child development specialist.
At TransformEd, they believe that every young person deserves to be supported in the development of their whole self, yet, due to systemic oppression, students from historically marginalized populations often do not have the access they deserve to rich, positive learning environments that foster their development. They believe that the education system is ripe for transformation, to better serve the needs of students, families, and communities. They focus on the school system as the unit of change, partnering directly with school districts and other education support organizations in order to support educators and leaders in changing policies and practices to foster whole child development.
Over the past five years, TransformEd has worked with schools and districts serving over one million students in twenty-six US states. TransformEd’s portfolio includes work with individual schools, districts, networks, and other education support organizations, focused on integrating a whole child focus into each system’s work. They have recently completed a strategic planning process and, as they begin this first year of our new strategy, they are seeking to identify and bring on board new team members who are passionate about the transformative potential of antiracist, equity-based whole child development for young people nationwide.
Chief Program Officer
As a new, key member of the organization’s executive team, the charge of the Chief Program Officer (CPO) will be to lead a transformation in the organization’s programmatic work to ensure that our approach is inclusive, equitable, and anti-racist. This involves building upon the organization’s recently completed strategic plan to conceptualize and codify the details of our standard model for partnering with districts and schools. The CPO will ensure the success of the Programs and Research & Learning teams, working closely with the leaders of both departments to ensure alignment and integration of these core components of our model.
As a senior leader of the organization, the CPO will serve as an external ambassador for our work and will also play a key role in internal culture setting, leading by example and supporting the organization’s internal equity initiatives to ensure strong alignment with our programmatic work and our core values. This role will directly and indirectly manage a team of up to 8+ staff who are highly knowledgeable in their subject areas. The CPO will draw upon their own expertise, the team, and other resources to ensure that TransformEd is able to design and deliver informed and actionable services and research.
Whole Child Development Specialist
With a passion for and belief in the power of facilitating systems change through evidence-based action, the Whole Child Development Specialist will serve as a bridge between research and practice at TransformEd, ensuring 1) that all of our field-facing work is infused with current and emerging research on whole child development and the science of learning, and 2) that we are consistently lifting up and sharing the most promising practices from the field. The Whole Child Development Specialist will serve as an internal expert, providing colleagues with relevant and evidence-based information to support their work in the field, while also ensuring that all field-facing materials have a lens of equity, inclusion, and anti-racist practice to support systems-level change in districts and schools nationwide.
The ideal candidate will be a skilled translator of research, with an ability to understand and synthesize different types of research (from academic reports to participatory action research) and translate that into engaging and actionable guidance for educators. They also believe in the power of lifting up and codifying promising practices from the field. They are a skilled collaborator, who can work with a range of colleagues across the whole organization and oversee multiple projects at once. While experience as a classroom educator is valuable, the ideal candidate will have direct experience translating research findings into actionable guidance for educators across multiple schools / districts.
TransformEd is committed to building the diversity of our team and creating and maintaining a positive, inclusive workplace culture where all can thrive. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from a broad spectrum of qualified people who represent the diverse backgrounds and experiences of the students and educators in the districts we serve
