California Afterschool Network Step Up High School Summit a Huge Success!

In this issue:

Another Successful Step Up High School Summit

Over 330 high school after school professionals from throughout the Nation participated in the second annual Step Up High School Summit, November 2-4, 2010 in San Diego, California. Participants were inspired by a rousing keynote presentation by Willard R. Daggett and over 50 workshop sessions. Many presenters have made their presentations accessible. Access summit presentations and view photos from this year’s Step Up High School Summit. The California Afterschool Network would like to thank everyone who made the commitment to participate and enhance their practice in High School after school programs. Save the dates for next year’s summit, November 1-3, 2011. We hope to see you there.

Access the Newly Released Quality Self-Assessment Rubric

The California Afterschool Network was happy to release the new High School After School Quality Self-Assessment Rubric (QSAR) at the 2010 Step Up High School Summit. The QSAR was created in collaboration by the California Afterschool Network and the Los Angeles County Office of Education After School Technical Assistance Unit with generous support from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. The QSAR Tool is meant to support a reflective process in which program staff and stakeholders explore their own programs and work collaboratively to develop strategies to enhance policies, procedures and practices. The QSAR Tool will help program staff and stakeholders assess how their program reflects promising practices from the field, identify their strengths and challenges, and create a plan for program quality improvement. The QSAR is available for free download. Access the QSAR today!
