This map offers a picture of sites that were funded under the most recent cohort of the After School Education and Safety (ASES) program. The map illustrates the geographic distribution of the over 2,700 schools that began receiving ASES funding in 2006/07.
Linguistic Isolation in California
Detail area maps reveal that substantial numbers of schools in linguistically isolated communities have received state or federal after school funding. These maps illustrate that after school programs have the potential to serve as an important resource for English learners and their families, as well as English-speaking students whose parents do not speak English. However there are still many unfunded schools located in regions where a high percentage of school-age children live in households with limited English speakers.
