LIAS Blog: Afterschool as a Teacher Pathway

How can we work to get more teachers in the classroom following the teacher shortage that has been exacerbated by COVID-19? In this blog post by Learning in Afterschool (LIAS), the first step is viewing OST as a teacher pathway. The knowledge and skills that OST workers gain is very similar to those required of teachers. Additionally, many OST workers are people of color and bring a unique understanding of the community that young people of their same background reside in, allowing for a more diverse workforce.
