Free/low-cost nutrition and physical activity resources from our NuPA co-chairs:

  • Food & Fun Afterschool assist program staff in providing healthier environments to children during out-of-school time. The curriculum is designed to incorporate lessons and activities about healthy eating and physical activity into regular after school program schedules. Food & Fun Afterschool includes 11 teaching units that encourage healthy behaviors through active play, literacy and math skills development, creative learning, and hands-on snack time activities.
  • Fitness Break Video Featuring L.A. Galaxy Star: Active kids = active minds, so get youth moving with this 2-minute fitness break led by L.A. Galaxy star Ema Boateng. This video is easy and fun to play first thing in the morning, after lunch, or even at the end of the day
  • Smoothie Recipes – Guaranteed Crowd Pleasers: Smoothies blend together a variety of healthy ingredients to create a tasty treat that kids love! Check out the Smart Food Planner’s latest smoothie recipes, including the Green Monster and Peaches n’ Cream.
  • The EatFresh.org Mini Course is an online nutrition education class in English and Spanish, perfect for program staff or motivated parents and community members. To sign up with a group and track participant data, contact Erin Franey: erin@leahspantrysf.org.
  • New Food Recovery Guide from the LA Food Policy Council, called “Reducing Food Waste: Recovering untapped resources in our food system.” Check out the providers featured in this guide who support nonprofits on a tight budget to access fresh fruits and vegetables. This guide aims to inspire new partnerships, demystify misconceptions about the donation of food and inform policy efforts.
