Happy Valentines day! Today, programs from all across the nation are celebrating after school with the We Love Afterschool campaign! There are millions of reasons to love afterschool. Afterschool programs keep kids safe, inspire learning, and help working families. This Valentine’s Day, share some of the reasons afterschool is close to your heart with your friends, family, and community.

It’s easy to participate. Just download the We Love Afterschool toolkit, print out some copies of the included We Love Afterschool sign, and write in why you love afterschool (ask students or parents to join you, too). Then snap photos of the finished product and share on social media with the hashtag #AfterschoolWorks! Let your elected representatives know how much you love after school by including them on your social media posts (find out your legislators social media information).

Given President Trump’s recommendation to ELIMINATE ALL FEDERAL FUNDING FOR AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS in his recent budget recommendations, it is an important time to to let our communities and our elected officials know how much after school programs mean to our children, youth, families, and communities.
