The Expanded Learning Division (EXLD) of the California Department of Education (CDE) is pleased to announce the release of the ASES Frontier Transportation Program Grant Application. The purpose of the ASES Frontier Transportation Grant is to provide supplemental funding for existing ASES grantees that have transportation needs due to their after school program site being located in Frontier Areas as specified in California Education Code Section 8483.7(a)(5).
They are reaching out to you because you have an ASES After School Base site identified on the list of eligible frontier sites that does not currently receive ASES Frontier Transportation funding. Please check the list of eligible Frontier sites.

The ASES Frontier Transportation Grant application is applied for through our After School Support and Information System (ASSIST) data base and the application must be emailed into the Department.
The ASES Frontier Transportation Grant Application, Frequently Asked Questions, and the narrative questions can be found on the ASES Frontier Transportation web page at https://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/fo/r27/asesfrontier26.asp.
Final Filing Date
The final filing date for applications is 4:00 P.M. on February 27, 2026.
Grantees must submit an electronic copy of the application and the required application narrativeto the Expanded Learning Division (EXLD) by email at ExpandedLearning@cde.ca.gov no later than February 27, 2026, at 4:00 P.M. When emailing, please include your agency name, ASSIST-generated identification number, and “ASES Frontier FY 26-27 Funding Application” in the subject line. The application forms and the narrative should be attached to the email. Application forms are available in ASSIST and narrative questions are available at https://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/fo/r27/frontiernarrative26.asp.
