Committed to June 2026
Program Coordinator, Napa County Office of Education
Chris Meza brings over a decade of experience in education and youth development to his role as Expanded Learning Program Coordinator at the Napa County Office of Education. Throughout his career, Chris has held a variety of roles, including after-school staff, high school football coach, AmeriCorps member, and Site Coordinator, which has given him a deep, practical understanding of the field.
Chris began his collaborative work with the California AfterSchool Network (CAN) during the launch of the first Site Coordinator Network, where he connected with peers across the state to strengthen after-school systems and elevate site-level leadership. His involvement with CAN has continued to grow, now serving as a Leadership Team Member and a proud advocate for the field.
In his current role, Chris leads a variety of projects across Napa County, including Intersession programs, Before School services, the COOL (Intramural) Sports Challenge, and the county’s first Expanded Learning E-Sports League. His work focuses on creating inclusive, engaging opportunities that support students’ academic, social, and emotional growth.
Born and raised in Napa County, Chris is deeply committed to giving back to the community that shaped him. His passion lies in supporting local families by providing high-quality after-school programs, ensuring every student has access to a safe and enriching space to learn and grow, especially those who need it most.
In 2024, Chris was appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom to the California Before and After School Advisory Committee and continues to contribute to statewide progress in the Expanded Learning field through his work with CAN and beyond.
