What does the Program Director I – Expanded Learning Programs do?

Under the supervision of the Regional Department Head, the Program Director – Expanded Learning Programs (ELP) is responsible for the overall leadership and management of multiple expanded learning programs. The Program Director will ensure sites meet contractual requirements, collaborate with school and district personal, offer high quality academic enrichment activities, and provide participants with a safe and supportive environment. The position is responsible for hiring and training staff, fiscal management, program planning, program compliance, and by providing staff with the tools and resources to operate quality expanded learning programs. The Program Director position requires experience and skills in leadership and management, problem solving, fiscal management, relationship building, and a strong desire to mentor staff, strengthen youth and families, and serve the community.

What are the qualifications for the role? 

  • Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma/GED.
  • Four years experience in child and youth development, education, or comparable setting including at least one year experience in a site supervisor position required.
  • Must have Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act in an emergency situation.
  • Physical ability to lead activities such as sports, games and curriculum activities and monitor behavior.
  • Fingerprint clearance from DOJ/FBI required prior to working.
  • TB test clearance within 60 days prior to employment or prior to working on a school site.
  • Completion of Child Abuse Prevention training prior to working with program participants.
  • Adult and Pediatric CPR/First Aid certifications from an EMSA approved training program required within 30 days of hire, unless specified otherwise on program contract.
