The California Expanded Learning Research and Evaluation Strategy Committee (RESC) is a group of diverse interest-holders that come together to identify evaluation and research strategies and recommendations for the California Department of Education Expanded Learning Division (EXLD) to implement in partnership with the broader field that leverages data to demonstrate the scope and impact of California’s Expanded Learning Opportunities.

This group has been meeting since 2024 and is looking for a few new members. We will prioritize applicants who represent populations that are not yet represented in our group.

Commitment & Responsibilities:

  • A one-year commitment with the opportunity to renew
  • Attend up to 3 in-person meetings, approximately 6 hours each, plus travel 
  • Participate in up to 3 virtual meetings, approximately 2 hours each
  • Work up to 10 hours per month outside of meetings, which may include:  Pre-meeting preparation, additional virtual meetings as needed, and monthly small group work based on assignments developed throughout the year.

For full-day meetings (10 AM – 4 PM), committee members will meet in person in Sacramento. They will travel at their own expense. 

The anticipated launch date is March 2026, with a new member orientation scheduled for February.
