The Expanded Learning Division (EXLD) of the California Department of Education (CDE) is pleased to announce the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) and High School After School Safety and Enrichment for Teens (ASSETs) Grant Award Notifications (GANs) have been mailed as of Saturday to the Superintendents and Authorized Agents for Fiscal Year 2023-24.

Once you receive the grant award notifications you have two options to return the signed GANs:

1. You can mail the GAN back to CDE with a wet signature to:

Expanded Learning Division
California Department of Education
1430 N Street, Suite 3400
Sacramento, CA 95814

A scan of the wet signature will not be accepted via email. If it is a wet signature, it must be mailed to be valid.

2. Or you can return that GAN by email if you choose to e-sign the GAN by using a secure PDF signature or a secured DocuSign signature. If you choose to e-sign the GAN and return it by, email the email will need to be sent from the Superintendent’s or Authorized Agents email address to your regional Analyst for it to be valid. You will also need to include the following language in the body of your email when you return the e-signed GAN to your regional Analyst for it to be accepted.

“By submitting the attached Grant Award Notification (GAN), I certify that I am authorized to sign the GAN. My organization intends from this day forward to conduct business with the CDE by electronic mans, including the use of electronic signatures, when document execution is necessary. All e-signatures provided to the CDE, including but not limited to any e-signature in the attachment, are intended to be binding. I have not altered the attachment for this particular transaction.”

Note: The After School Education and Safety (ASES) and Frontier GANs, Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) III Summer Round 2 GANs are all in process and we hope to have them to you soon!
