Later this month, our friends at the CA Community Schools Learning Exchange (CSLX) will present the Community School Basics Virtual workshops, two, 1.5-hour sessions aimed at helping recent CCSPP grantees learn foundational elements of community schools development.

CS Basics is for district, school, COE, and community partner teams who have recently received California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP) planning or implementation grants, or those who might be interested in applying for state or federal grants to support their community school strategies. Examples of these roles? Principals, community school coordinators (or those who might soon hold that role), family engagement partners, and personnel.

As many of us know, receiving a community school grant is NOT the same thing as having a community school strategy. A grant program doesn’t dictate the way you build trust with your community. It doesn’t tell you what your students and families are excited about, and it doesn’t tell you who the champions within your community are.

CS Basics is an opportunity to kick-start your community school’s strategy by getting meaningful CS orientation from people who have been working in community schools for decades.
