California is Improving Environmental Learning
Tom Torlakson, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, released A Blueprint for Environmental Literacy, a plan to improve instruction for students on the environment. A Blueprint for Environmental Literacy is a result of a 47-member Environmental Literacy Task Force lead by co-chairs Elizabeth Babcock of the California Academy of Sciences and Craig Strang of the Lawrence Hall of Science, that convened last year to evaluate the state of environmental education. Recommendations for improvement were published along with the Task Force’s findings in A Blueprint for Environmental Literacy.
