ELO-P Academy & BOOST 2025: April’s Ebbs and Flows
The Current
In April, we held intentional space for the expanded learning field to shape the Ecosystem Plan through collective input sessions at the ELO-P Academy and the BOOST conference. These spaces were designed to convene and facilitate design cycles that build capacity and community. As a community, we explored Design Thinking to assess the current landscape of the expanded learning ecosystem, including challenges, opportunities, and fertile areas for growth. We also generated strategies to leverage the expanded learning infrastructure as a collective impact strategy that aligns broader youth serving ecosystems. Check out what collective wisdom emerged from April’s collective input spaces:
ELO-P Academy Collective Wisdom on moving from transactional partnerships to transformational partnerships. Reflections on key ingredients for successful partnerships with local community based organizations.
- A shared vision and mission with students and families at the forefront.
- Clear communication about partnership expectations.
- Weekly collaborative meetings and monthly planning sessions.
- Partner with an organization based in the community that hires staff from the area and who reflect the students and families that you serve.
- Educate others about the power of expanded learning by presenting at local collaborative meetings or at partner board meetings.
BOOST Conference Town Hall Collective Wisdom on moving from a Scarcity Mindset to an Abundant Mindset: Reflections on how “Scarcity Mindsets” impact our work.
- Limits abilities and vision
- Makes us complacent with what has been created for our communities.
- Brings down confidence. Creates barriers and fear based decision making and planning.
- Doesn’t allow for proactive support, feeds our complacency.
- Has you overlooking the potential and skills of your team or community.
We invite you to reflect on what is emerging from these spaces.
- How can you show up more intentionally in your program partnerships?
- How does operating from a scarcity mindset impact your capacity to design spaces that center the voice and choice of youth?
