According to The Wallace Foundation and America’s Promise Alliance’s report SEL+OST=Perfect Together afterschool, summer, and other out-of-school time programs can be ideal settings for children to learn and build social and emotional well-being when skilled and trusted adults are there to guide them.

This report details that social and emotional skills are increasingly seen as the key to success in modern life. The report explores specific topics such as research on social-emotional development, ways that OST programs can help instructors build the skills they need to foster SEL, as well as jargon-free language to convey how SEL benefits young people.
