Why Join the Leadership Team?

The California AfterSchool Network Leadership Team is more than a governing body—it’s a statewide community of leaders working together to make a difference in the health and well-being of children, youth, families, and communities by strengthening access to high-quality OST opportunities, including Expanded Learning.

As a Leadership Team member, you’ll have opportunities to:

  • Help shape CAN’s strategic direction
  • Advance equitable access to OST opportunities across California
  • Collaborate with leaders from diverse organizations and communities
  • Build meaningful statewide relationships
  • Grow your own leadership while supporting the field
  • Serve on Action Teams that move important work forward

CAN does not endorse any specific product. Therefore, individuals who work for organizations whose primary purpose is to sell their product for a cost are not eligible to join the CAN Leadership Team.

What CAN Leaders Do

Leadership Team members help guide and strengthen the California AfterSchool Network by:

  • Setting strategic priorities
  • Providing leadership and governance
  • Participating in Action Teams
  • Bringing diverse perspectives to statewide discussions
  • Serving as ambassadors OST, including Expanded Learning
  • Helping CAN respond to emerging needs across California

Leaders serve 2 three-year terms and actively contribute throughout the year.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for leaders from every region of California who bring diverse identities, lived experiences, professional backgrounds, and perspectives.

You don’t need a particular job title or years of leadership experience to apply.

If you’re passionate about expanding opportunities for children and youth and committed to advancing equitable outcomes, we’d love to hear from you.
