As we close this year, we want to take a moment and reflect. Making intentional time to reflect is not only helpful with Continuous Quality Improvement for programs, but it also allows an opportunity for self-reflection to identify areas to celebrate, areas to grow, and new possibilities. Every year brings its own unique set of victories and defeats, struggles and joys. Whatever season of life you’re in at the moment, it’s important to reflect on how the year went so you can adjust your sails. where youth play, learn, and grow outside of the school
day. Yet, we have little collective information about
this essential workforce. You can help change
this!
Power of Us wants to know more about those who are still in the youth fields and those who left, so that they can explore, define, and elevate this collective workforce and their work with youth. The information from the Power of Us Workforce Survey can also lead to action, informing policy, practice, and further research to better support the workforce.

Prevention Month and focuses on raising awareness
of bullying. During this month, many groups across
the country will release new resources, campaigns, and efforts
aimed at bringing awareness to the issue of bullying. As CA
Expanded Learning and Out-of-School-Time programs work to
transform schools and communities, we have the responsibility
to educate ourselves and our teams about anti-bullying
prevention and intervention.
STEAM Newsletter – #GirlsLeadSTEM
October is #GirlsLeadSTEM month! Launched in June 2022, #GirlsLeadSTEM is a national public awareness campaign to elevate the diverse voices of young women and girls in STEM, especially those who are marginalized. Through a collective voice, #GirlsLeadSTEM will celebrate the girls who lead their STEM journeys and raise their voices to inspire and share their perspectives on what’s needed to close the gaps in STEM.
Join us in the celebration by sharing quotes and stories that highlight youth voices on social media using the hashtag #GirlsLeadSTEM!
