As the days get shorter and the nights get longer, check in with your community. Seasonal depression, or it’s clinical term: Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), is a type of depression that occurs with the changing of the seasons that affects up to 10% of the United States population.

STEAM Newsletter – #GirlsLeadSTEM
October is #GirlsLeadSTEM month! Launched in June 2022, #GirlsLeadSTEM is a national public awareness campaign to elevate the diverse voices of young women and girls in STEM, especially those who are marginalized. Through a collective voice, #GirlsLeadSTEM will celebrate the girls who lead their STEM journeys and raise their voices to inspire and share their perspectives on what’s needed to close the gaps in STEM.
Join us in the celebration by sharing quotes and stories that highlight youth voices on social media using the hashtag #GirlsLeadSTEM!

of bullying. During this month, many groups across
the country will release new resources, campaigns, and efforts
aimed at bringing awareness to the issue of bullying. As CA
Expanded Learning and Out-of-School-Time programs work to
transform schools and communities, we have the responsibility
to educate ourselves and our teams about anti-bullying
prevention and intervention.

September is National Recovery Month. More than 20 million people are recovering from substance use disorders in the United States. By bringing awareness to substance abuse and recovery, we can commit to helping prevent substance abuse disorders, supporting those who are still struggling, and providing people in recovery with the resources they need to live full and healthy lives.
Recovery doesn’t happen overnight, and we are here to support all that take part in the journey.
